Vacation to Minneapolis?

My dad wants to take me on a vacation this summer. either July 19-23 or August 16-20. He wants to include Valley Fair and the Mall of America. What are some other cool/fun things to do in that area? We are driving there and back from Bismarck, ND. Please help me think of some great places to go to!
