Why did R&B have to adopt hip hop style?

It is not proper evolution.Teddy Riley created this "new jack swing" which combined R&B with hip hop which has actually ruined both genres in the mainstream and real soul music is dead.Donna Summer "this time I know its real" from 1989 wasn't new jack swing and R&B and soul music should have been and stayed like that music.I prefer R&B&Soul from the 1960's to 1970's though not really fond of rap music.if it had never token a hip hop route would it have eventually evolved into a neo soul sound.
