First teals, plums, berries for fall/winter 2008...now pastels? Can fashion designers make up their mind?

Ok, is it just me or is fashion changing like, 100 times faster than it used to? I mean, you buy an outfit and then like, next week it's out of style and something new is "hot". (NOT an exaggeration) Belts were a big thing for like, 5 minutes, and then the toes on our boots changed to the new "almond toe". WTF? Clothes are so expensive, so it ticks me off that they keep changing the styles right in the middle of a season like they can't make up their minds. I mean, whatever happened to styles changing seasonally, yearly, etc.? Now it's every few weeks? (I guess this turned out to be more of a rant than a question)
